As per the Public Records (Scotland) Act 2011 a named authority requires to prepare and implement a records management plan (RMP) which must set out proper arrangements for the management of records.

The Scottish Roads Works Commissioner RMP was accepted by "The Keeper of Records of Scotland" on the 4 June 2022 and is to be maintained and reviewed annually in May of each year as per section 13 of the RMP.
