Accessibility Statement

The Scottish Road Works Commissioner is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to content published on the roadworks.scot domain. It does not apply to the Scottish Road Works Register or associated mobile apps.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reason(s):

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Some pdfs published before 1 January 2023 may not have titles to describe the topic or purpose of the page. This fails WCAG 2.4.2 success criterion (Page Titled).

The document ‘Annual Accounts 2022-23.pdf’ also does not have a title to describe the topic or purpose of the page. This fails WCAG 2.4.2 success criterion (Page Titled).

Documents published in the RAUC(S) and Community section of the site may not be compliant. The minutes and papers for these meetings are maintained by individuals outwith the Scottish Road Works Commissioner's office. The Commissioner is working with these groups to achieve compliance.

Disproportionate burden

This statement makes reference to a number of documents with accessibility problems which is not intended are rectified on the basis that doing so would result in a disproportionate burden. We believe that fixing these problems would be disproportionate because these documents are either:

  1. Accessed very rarely, with little or no traffic measured of users are making use of these documents;
  2. Policies/procedures which are updated on a regular basis. Accessibility problems will be rectified as these documents are next reviewed and updated; or
  3. Produced by parties largely outwith the control of the Scottish Road Works Commissioner.

On balance, it is considered that the costs incurred in updating these documents would represent a disproportionate burden to the Scottish Road Works Commissioner.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Non-HTML documents published before September 2018 do not need to be accessible - unless users need them to use a service.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 14 January 2025. It updates the accessibility statement prepared on 6 February 2024. It will be reviewed annually and will also be subject to evaluation and update following a substantial revision of the website.

An audit of the website is carried out annually using the digital accessibility platform, Accessibility Cloud. The last audit was completed in December 2024. This identified a small number of issues (8) that we are currently working on resolving.

The statement was last reviewed on 14 January 2025.
